About Step-Up Tutors

Tutoring that feels personal, because it is

Step-Up Tutors began with a simple belief: every child can do well with the right support, given patiently and at their own pace. I'm Romy — the tutor and director here. With over 15 years teaching GCSE and A-Level Maths, an Aerospace Engineering degree and an enhanced DBS check behind me, I've seen how the right encouragement turns "I can't" into "watch me."

We're proudly based in Wembley and work with local families both one-to-one and in small groups — in person and online. No big call centres, no rotating tutors. Just consistent, caring teaching that your child looks forward to.

"They don't just learn the answer — they learn how to think."

What subjects and year groups do you teach?

Maths and English for primary children (Years 1–6), and Maths, Science and English for secondary students — right through to GCSE, plus Maths at A-Level.

Are lessons one-to-one or in groups?

Both. We offer one-to-one lessons and small-group sessions, in person at our Wembley centre or online — whichever suits your child best.

How long is each lesson?

Maths lessons are 1 hour 30 minutes and include a test paper every week to track progress. Lessons in other subjects are 1 hour.

How much does it cost?

We keep things flexible with a monthly commitment option and a pay-as-you-go option. Fees depend on the subject and lesson type, so please get in touch and we'll talk you through them.

Do you offer a free trial?

We don't run free trials — most of our families come to us through word-of-mouth recommendations. We're always happy to chat first about your child's needs and answer any questions before you decide.

Who will be teaching my child?

Lessons are led by Romy, who has over 15 years' experience teaching GCSE and A-Level Maths, holds an Aerospace Engineering degree and is enhanced DBS-checked. No rotating tutors — just consistent, familiar teaching.
